Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Depart from the U.S. for London, England.
Day 2: Arrive in London
Transfer to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 3: London
Westminster Abbey, Wesley's House and Chapel, Bunhill Fields Cemetery (burial place to many well-known Christians, including John Bunyan) and St. Paul's Cathedral.
Day 4: Kent, the "Garden of England"
Visit Cantebury Cathedral, England's Mother Church, where Thomas à Becket was murdered. Spurgeon's Metropolitan Tabernacle.
Day 5: Oxford
Walking tour: Christ Church College and Cathedral. Lincoln College where John Wesley founded the Holy Club, nicknamed "Society of Methodist." Visit the Eagle & Child pub that was frequented by C.S. Lewis. Continue to Magdalen College and visit the former homes of Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, author of The Lord of the Rings.
Day 6: The Scenic Cotswolds
Also, Bristol and St. Mary Redcliffe Church, the 800-year-old masterpiece of gothic architecture. Explore the John Wesley Chapel and The New Room.
Day 7: York
Today, Epworth, birthplace of John and Charles Wesley. At the Old Rectory visit their childhood home, built in 1709 by Samuel Wesley and now a museum. See the Wesley Memorial Church and go to York and one of the most intact medieval walled cities in England.
Day 8: Cambridge
Visit the 500-year-old King's College, including the Chapel with its marvelous fan-vaulted ceiling and stained-glass windows (visits are restricted during examinations).
Day 9: This morning, travel to the Olney Baptist Church, where renowned English missionary William Carey served as pastor. Then to The Cowper and Newton Museum, containing an extensive collection of possessions and manuscripts of William Cowper and Rev. John Newton. On to the John Bunyan Museum in Bedford, which features his life and works.
Day 10: Depart For Home From London.
